Description: Take a deep breath and inhale. Smell it? Yup, that disturbing scent toying with your nostrils is nothing less than My Sister's Business, and what a magnificent turd it is. Crude, rude, and downright "dirty," this is quintessential sleaze. This is celluloid rotgut straight from the sewer. This is 65 minutes of pure putrescence without a single redeeming feature which, of course, is why those of us who enjoy swimming in cinematic cesspools are only too happy to dive in and drown.
Shot silent (probably in 16mm) and accompanied by a relentless voice-over -- which, hilariously, often seems to be stream-of-consciousness - My Sister's Business is sort of a day-in-the-life of a ho, beginning when Constance (CONSTANCE SIRIFEM) awakens bare-ass in the morning and immediately goes into heat. And... well... there's no delicate way of putting this, but part of the film's fascination is that its leading lady is not exactly a beauty. ln fact, Miss Sirifem has such a pronounced moustache on her upper lip that you just can't take your eyes off it.
Anyway, after making it with scuzzy boyfriend George (who "works at a bank"), Constance goes to work: Instead of a white-collar worker, I'm more like a lady of the streets, only my street is my home." She gets it on with once-a-month regular Mr. Johnson, then spends some quality time with Little Sister by showing her how to suck a finger. Tall, skinny Mrs. Hawthorne arrives next, dolled up in such a giant hairdo that, at first glance, she looks like the pinhead from The Brain that Wouldn't Die. Not only is Mrs. Hawthorne "a lezzie from way back" but - get this - "the Governor's wife." After they get ugly on the couch, we suddenly see Little Sis attending a party/orgy at a local "hippie pad" -- "Psychedelic posters? Gives me a headache!" - before Constance gets a visit from Bob and Sarah: "I figure a weird experience is an experience." (Exactly.) Wish we knew more about writer / producer / director BOBBY DAVIS - who, like his cast remains uncredited on the release prints. Mr. Davis also did the equally foul Country Girl (1968) - which Something Weird also offers -- as well as Trucker's Girl (also 1970 and also starring Constance Sirifem) that, for now, remains on the Official SWV Want List. Davis obviously operated outside the usual L.A7N.Y. sexploitation circles - which is why you won't recognize any of the performers -- but exactly where is part of the guessing game. (The voice-over has a pronounced twang that almost suggests Baltimore.) He's certainly a master of making a feature film look like nothing less than a stag reel without, of course, any actual penetration. Of course, by 1970 hardcore was lurking right around the corner - My Sister's Business is one of the last of the old-school nudies - and one gets the distinct impression that some of the sex scenes here weren't exactly faked
