Ayelen Parolin
Ayelen Parolin is a choreographer and dancer. She was born in Buenos Aires, lives and works in Brussels. She studied at the National Dance School and at the San Martin Theater in Buenos Aires. In Europe, she followed the E.x.e.r.c.e. training. in Montpellier and then worked as an interpreter for Mathilde Monnier, Mossoux-Bontй, Franзois Peyret, Mauro Paccagnella, Louise Vanneste, Alexandra Bachzetsis, Anne Lopez, and Riina Saastamoinen. Since 2004, Ayelen Parolin has been developing personal work. She first created the solo 25.06.76, in which she explores her autobiography. With Troupeau / Rebaсo, she confronts the sleeping animal in each of us and with the piece SMS and Love, she questions femininity and its group dynamics. In DAVID, she "contemplates" the male figure through a sensory exploration and a deconstruction of the clichйs of a canonical model, symbol of masculinity: Michelangelo's David. With Heretics, a duet for two dancers and a pianist-composer performing her composition live, Ayelen Parolin delves into a rigorously precise, calculated and obstinate movement writing, to speak of the social in an abstraction brought to the limits of the body.
In 2015, Ayelen focused on the woman (s). With the duo Exotic World, first of all: a commission from the National Theater and SCAD, carte blanche to Ayelen and the director and former stripper Sarah Moon Howe, and with the solo La Esclava, with Lisi Estarаs.
In July 2016, she presented at Seoul Art Center Nativos, a piece in the same spirit of endurance and performance as Heretics but with 4 Korean dancers, composer Lea and a Korean percussionist.
Ayelen is one of the 4 laureates of the research grant awarded by the Pina Bausch Foundation for 2016.
In May 2017, she presented Autуctonos, a piece with 5 performers, at the Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels and at the Festival Montpellier Danse 2017. In June 2017, she participated in the 7even project of Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten for the Marseille Festival.
She has created and shown her work in Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, Finland, Germany, Norway, Estonia, Switzerland, Austria, Israel, NY, Mexico, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Serbia, South Korea and Argentina.
