Maybe so, but it's a big spiraling cycle. They put stuff behind paywalls that we can't afford, so generous people are willing to share it with those of us who are fans, and then it gets spread even more to people who make money from sharing, so models put up more protections and paywalls so people steal and share. If we want it to end, we have to come up with a better system. I notice that song stealing used to be rampant, and the RIAA's process of suing the fuck out of a handful of people just made others more mad and willing to steal to get revenge. Eventually, someone figured out that if you charged a small amount that most people could afford for the thing that most people wanted in the first place (in this case a single song instead of having to buy an entire album), then the vast majority of people would pay for high quality legally licensed material. There's a small percentage that continue to steal, but nowhere near the numbers that they used to. There needs to be a porn equivalent, or a serious re-thinking of how sites handle content. Until then, this will be the way it is, for good or bad.
Exactly. I don't mind paying for something that's worth paying for. If the content is good, i'll gladly pay for it. There have been several girls who I paid for OF sites, But I sign up and they have 10-60 sec videos half of which are boring af.. then you get daily messages saying to buy ONE video from $10-$50 with absolutely no preview. And all of the content is very hard to download. Sorry, but fuck that..
Compare that with real sites. $30/month for access to weeks worth of lengthy content that you can easily download and save.
Bottom line is that people will always steal digital content if possible. But if you price things right, then more people will pay for it and it's a win/win for the content creators and users. But as it stands, I'm done with OF and never going on there again until it becomes more reasonable.
The music case is interesting, because if you ask someone not Metallica or any person not getting millions, millions of listens a day, then you aren't making anything from Spotify (about 0.0038c per stream, 500 000 streams = about $1900), youtube or Tidal. Please don't mistake this as saying that they should be raking in millions, but it's only the 1% making money off those services, which is better then nothing but not by much. Slight aside, but i read an interesting article years ago on music sales (albums, CD's etc), having been slightly declining/flat since around the 60's until the early to mid 90's when sales shot up. This unexpected massive increase has been the basis of what record company's have used since to say, look ignore that prior 30 or 40 years of little growth, we were going to rake it like this sudden spike until the end of time. Porn followed the same sort of trend, the early internet was a money printing machine for a few that jumped on it, then as the internet got better and wide spread, it crashed fucking hard.
As to the OF thing, lots of women trying to, well it's basically the bait and switch tactic, but they eventually get found out. You can just type their name into google and probably find something on them to tell you what her contents like. Then there's Blake Blossom's, that from what i've read is a bargain at $20(?) with her doing content constantly. The site is garbage and given it's now run by that useless idiot that lucked into MFC, it's not going to get better. My point, reasonable is relative as my next paragraph will show, as people are paying it.
With that, Catjira's site is an example of paying $15 so you can be constantly spammed 3 or 4 times a day with pedo "Good morning daddy have you contributed to my next professional shoot goal? ; Hi Daddy id really love to make you another professional photoset..... ; etc etc" so that you can spend $200 so she can talk quietly to your small weener or something for 5min. I did not pay the $15 thankfully, i payed $5 and new within the first couple of minutes that i'd be finding that Unsub button quick smart. An example of the pay to pay more model. Make it free and make it PPV, or charge $15, $20, $50, what ever you think it's worth and if you charge for something, it better be a clip of something you don't normally do or really special to justify it.
