YYYY-MM-DD is the ISO 8601 standard date format adopted by most countries, financial institutions etc. because it is the only format that can be accurately sorted.

Ah, guess I never looked into what the actual formats are, just went with what i mostly see, being dd-mm-yy or mm-dd-yy
